Great question! Our cordless Sparkling Water Makers are powered by the pressure of the CO2; they do not use batteries. When the button is pressed to carbonate, it opens the valve of the CO2 cylinder and the pressure from the cylinder makes the CO2 go straight into the bottle. This makes our manual Sparkling Water Makers easy to use and very portable!
